'X Factor's' Dexter Haygood Claims He Made a Deal to Leave Show

This will probably come out of left field for X Factor fans as contestant, Dexter Haygood, seemed speechless about his elimination on last week's show. Well, he isn't speechless anymore. Haygood says that his elimination during the Top 12 show last week was the result of a deal he made with producers.our editor recommends'The X Factor' Renewed for Second Season'The X Factor': 10 Tips to Improve the ShowPerez Hilton Slams 'X Factor's' Stacy Francis: You're a FraudPerez Hilton Calls 'X Factor's' Stacy Francis Too Old for Pop; Adam Lambert Disagrees PHOTOS: 'X Factor' Top 17 Finalists: Get to Know the Artists "I wanted to leave the show because I was unhappy that I was unable to be a rock artist. I grew up on rock," he says according to the Associated Press. "(Producers) seemed to have their way of doing things. I'm not sure why they wouldn't let me be me." Fans will remember that Haygood sang several songs that seemed to be outside of his comfort zone, including hits from Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Britney Spears. Haygood says he told judge and Over 30s group mentor Nicole Scherzinger that he wanted to leave and she brought his request to show producers. He can leave the show during the Top 12 elimination if he agreed to return for the season finale. Though he says he never actually dealt with show producers, he took the deal Scherzinger offered him. Since he was contractually bound, he said he wouldn't have quit if they didn't cut him a deal. "They took the opportunity to cut me, to let me just fly and do things the way I want to do them," he says. THR also requested comment from Scherzinger via her publicist, but she didn't immediately respond to the request. Haygood, who declared he was homeless when he auditioned for the show, was a member of the 80s funk rock group, Xavion.
