When Ratner released an apology on Monday, the storyline grew to become huge. Academy leader Tom Sherak initially defended Ratner but cautioned that another embarassing comment wouldn't be tolerated. Then Ratner's interview with Howard Stern-by which he boasted of his sex existence and "huge balls"-grew to become public, by mid-day Tuesday Ratner had informed the Academy he was walking lower as producer from the Academy awards. Murphy bailed because the host on Wednesday, with John Grazer named producer on Wednesday mid-day. This is not the very first time Douglas is a player inside a political debate.
